Dr. Harry M. Zweig founded Nassau Veterinary Clinic in 1937.
It is one of the oldest animal hospitals in New York State!!!
Believe it or not, many of our original patients were family
cows and sheep! In 1956, Dr. Herbert Dietrich joined Dr. Zweig.
Many changes have occurred in our clinic and in veterinary
medicine since the 1950's. Dr. Zweig has since passed on and
Dr. Herbert Dietrich retired in 1992. In December 1992, the
clinic moved from the original location in Nassau to its current
state-of-the-art facility,
just one and one-half miles east of that original small red
brick building. The new clinic is three times larger. In 1996,
NVC sold the large animal portion of the practice and made
a commitment to focus on the family pet and the Human Animal
Bond. Today, NVC is a PLLC, employing seven veterinarians,
Dr. Thomas Phillips, Dr.
Lisa Dietrich, Dr. Carolyn Sanford,
Dr. Rose Broglio, Dr.
Claire Hamer, and Dr. Beth Ann Shane.
Our talented and compassionate staff
of over 40 currently cares for about 24,000 family pets.
