Our Veterinary Services in Nassau, NY
Nassau Veterinary Clinic sets high standards for the medical care of your pet. We currently hold the highest certification level granted by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Their certification is voluntary and quite stringent. AAHA requires onsite inspection, medical record review and outside evaluation of diagnostic procedures such as x-rays.
At NVC, we strive to maintain excellent medical care by providing:
- Continuous education for our staff and doctors
- Frequent upgrades and additions to our medical and diagnostic equipment
- New services as research demonstrates their importance and effectiveness
Small Animal Care
Just like visits to the doctor or pediatrician are important for people, preventative routine veterinary care is vital to the long-term health of your pet. Nassau Veterinary Clinic offers thorough physical examinations to evaluate the overall health of your pet, from top to bottom. It begins with a 12-point evaluation where our veterinarian looks in detail at every major body part and system.
The results of this exam are combined with the medical history and pre-existing conditions, all-important observations of the owner, and annual routine recommendations of your vet to provide a custom annual medical plan for your pet. Veterinarians and staff are kept completely current with respect to your pet’s medical needs. Preventive and therapeutic plans are outlined then discussed with owners to provide the service both you and your pet need.
Pocket Pets
Owners of pocket pets like mice, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, and ferrets can find professional help with their care and treatment at Nassau Veterinary Clinic. The philosophy at NVC is that prevention is the key to success. Since most diseases can be linked to diet and husbandry, owners are encouraged to make well visit exam appointments, where the veterinarian and technician will take the time to fully educate owners. Hospitalization, fecal exams, cultures or high detailed x-rays are also available for the ill or injured pocket pal.
Providing a Friendly, Safe Environment for Your Pet
At NVC, monumental efforts are made by all staff members to see to it that your beloved pet’s experiences here are positive. You may have noticed that your pet is greeted by staff members with a special treat, a friendly scratch behind the ears, or an affectionate greeting. We adamantly believe that medical procedures are better tolerated when they are made less scary by staff that understands things from “the animal’s point of view.”
Our staff is encouraged to augment their medical training with behavior education – treating the “whole animal” is our goal. Behavior specialists have worked with our staff to minimize pet stress during procedures and visits to the clinic.
