Dr. Rose Broglio (Floetenmeyer)

Veterinarian

Biography

For as long as I can remember my childhood dream was to become a veterinarian. I feel fortunate for my now 30+ year career choice. My areas of interest and specialty training have been in soft tissue surgery, abdominal ultrasound, and advanced dental procedures.

I graduated from Cornell Veterinary College in 1991. I then went on to Guelph Veterinary College in Ontario, Canada for an internship in large animal surgery. I joined Nassau Veterinary Clinic in 1994, which was a mixed animal practice. I gradually shifted from large animals to small animals with a continued focus on preventive medicine and surgery.

In 2013 I was able to complement my surgery interest with advanced training in abdominal ultrasound. I have been performing abdominal ultrasounds since then. My love of surgery has expanded to performing advanced dentistry. I was mentored by Dr. Philips, a Fellow in Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, who performed advanced dentals for 20 years at NVC. I now do extensive dental procedures routinely. In 2021, I attended the Veterinary Dental Forum in Indianapolis, a conference devoted entirely to veterinary dentistry. In 2022, I trained at the International Veterinary Dental Institute and completed a course in advanced dentistry. In 2024, I attended Advanced Oral Surgery/Radiology at the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore, Maryland. I plan to continue doing annual advanced dental continued education through labs and forums.

When away from the clinic, I love to spend time with my 2 children. Before my children, I traveled solo around the world with a backpack to third-world countries for more than a year. Traveling is still important to me; I now share this with my children. My dream has been to have my children experience the world in a non-tourist way and I think I have succeeded in them recognizing the diversity of this planet and its people. Outside of traveling with my children, I love the outdoors, hiking, swimming, cycling, and rowing.

Professional interests: surgery, dentistry, abdominal ultrasounds, and preventative medicine.
Goal: To practice high-quality medicine in a compassionate environment and recognize companion animals as members of the family. Educate pet parents about important preventative health measures, which help to ensure a long and healthy life for their pets.
